Matthew Wright hilariously ate dog food during Tuesday’s This Morning, after discussing Mars CEO Grant Reid’s recent claims that factories bosses should regularly sample their own pet grub.

The TV personality, 57, joked that the substance looked ‘familiar’ like chicken and vegetables before saying, ‘Cheers,’ and tucking into the bowl.

Much to Holly Willoughby’s dismay, he observed: ‘This one is quite salty but on a serious note this is very palatable and I’m not saying that lightly.’

Holly’s co-star Phillip Schofield added, ‘Yeah, cat food isn’t very nice,’ after revealing he had also tried dog food before on the daytime programme.

Grant – whose company owns Iams, Pedigree and Royal Canin – said, ‘If it’s not good enough for me then why would it be good enough for your pet?’ in an interview with the Financial Times.

Matthew was left mortified earlier this year after he was caught shouting at his family live on This Morning.

He had joined hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes and royal reporter Camilla Tominey to discuss the big topics of the day, with Matthew taking part in the segment from home.

But the former The Wright Stuff host was soon left red-faced as his camera mic picked up on him shouting to someone in his home, with the star remarking that he was ‘so embarrassed’ after being caught.

As Camilla discussed that latest in the Prince Andrew/Jeffery Epstein scandal, a voice was heard bellowing: ‘Upstairs please’, with Camilla ignoring the comment as she’d assumed it to be a member of the backstage crew.

However, Phillip and Rochelle who were also in the studio began giggling as they’d seen what had occurred, with Phillip unable to resist ribbing Matthew over his shouting.

Turning to Matthew, Phillip lightheartedly quipped: ‘We’ve got Matthew there who has finished shouting at his family now to keep quiet’, with Rochelle adding: ‘Yeah, we caught you.’

Matthew then began to nervously giggle and put his head in his hands before commenting that he was ‘much more of a shouty, shouty parent.’

To which the hosts responded: ‘We did hear that, we got that!’

Sympathising with Matthew, Camilla assured him: ‘We’ve all been there!’

With Matthew adding: ‘Bless you, I’ll go back to shouting at the child. I’m so embarrassed!’

Matthew later made light of the situation on Twitter as he wrote: ‘Busted for being a shouty parent on national tv. There is no stone big enough…@thismorning.’

The TV star shares daughter Cassady, two, with wife Amelia. They welcomed their daughter in January 2019 after trying for eight years and enduring six failed IVF attempts and one life-threatening ectopic pregnancy.
