The Carabinieri law enforcement in Assago, who were investigating the attacks, refused to ensure any details.

Witnesses advised ANSA they noticed persons fleeing the supermarket in shock, and as the gravity of the problem turned very clear, store personnel pulled down the store’s shutters.

The Carrefour supermarket chain explained that law enforcement and ambulance crews responded promptly to phone calls alerting them about the attack.
